Modern Living Room Gets Custom Upgrade with Cabinets & Mantle

This gorgeous built-in is also functional and fit our clients' needs perfectly!

We’re  always so excited to share our recent custom projects, and this gorgeous fireplace mantle and built-in shelving combination is no exception. Because we’re the in-house custom fabrication shop for J. Thompson Builders we were brought in to complete this custom design to give this living space a beautiful and functional addition. Client Needs Drive the Plan

We worked closely with the client to nail down the ideal cabinetry and shelving combination to perfectly suit their needs. In this specific case, the client wanted to fit a 60-inch TV on the right side of the fireplace, so we drafted up a number of different options for how we could design an enclosure to intertwine functionality with style in effortless fashion. With our 3D program, it’s easy to give the client a range of ideas for what the end result could look like. We can showcase different options for the sizing of the shelves, a range of shelving levels including staggered or even, and whether or not adding a little extra crown molding on the top is a must-have element. We like to provide these different versions of the same built-in area to allow the client to play an active role in the design process while ensuring they’re getting the exact design they’re hoping for.

An In-House Workshop Makes All the Difference

We work closely with our custom home building company J. Thompson Builders and we are constantly reminded of how beneficial it is to have an in-house design team attached to the custom building partner. The process becomes extremely streamlined when you can easily coordinate the design and planning process with the building schedule. It also provides a synergy to the look and feel of the project, not to mention a constant comfort our clients feel once they understand  they can expect the same level of quality from the builder as they can from the design shop. Overall, it works really smoothly to have an in-house specialty cabinet company available for these custom home building projects.
